Contest

focusing on Linn County

The

Albany Visitors Association is holding its ninth annual Albany

Photography Contest.

The

purpose of this contest is to collect images suitable for use in the

coming year’s marketing materials for Albany and Linn County.

All

photos must have been taken within the last three years and must have

been photographed in Albany (including North Albany) and/or Linn

County with the exception of the “Open” category, which can

include photos from anywhere in Oregon.

The

contest is open to photographers of all skill levels and top winners

will get awards or ribbons.

for submission is 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19. For further information,

College

Transfer Day at LBCC

College

Transfer Day Information Fair, for students interested in

transferring from LBCC to a four-year college, will be held from 10

a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21 at Linn-Benton Community College,

Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd S.W., Albany.

Representatives

from a wide variety of public and private four-year colleges will be

present to answer questions.

The

Ford Family Foundation will be on hand with scholarship information.

Squarenaders

dance

this Sunday

Sweet

Home Squarenaders will hold a B-51 Square Dance with the theme “Come

Dance with our New Dancers” from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24,

at the Oak Height School Gym, 6th Avenue and Elm Street in Sweet

Home.

Caller

will be Jim Voll and Jackie Gale will cue. The public is invited to

join the club for an afternoon of fun, food, and fellowship.

Suggested

donation is $5 per person.

Dance

fest at Expo Center Jan. 29-31

Square

dancers are invited to the 2016 Oregon Mid-Winter Festival Jan. 29-31

at the Linn County Expo Center.

Fees

at the door will be $45 for adults and $25 for youths for the full

three-day festival.

on Wheels, also known as Your Table or Ours, offers lunch at the

Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays,

Tuesdays and Fridays.

Suggested

donation is $3.50. The lunch menu on Friday, Jan. 22, is roast

turkey or beef patty with gravy, whipped sweet potatoes, cut green

beans, wheat bread and ice cream cup.

The

menu for Monday, Jan. 25. is turkey divan bake or early American

goulash, green peas, pickled beets, bran rye roll and zucchini

brownie.

The

menu for Tuesday, turkey loaf or county steak with country gravy,

whipped potatoes, Capri blend vegetables, wheat bread and orange

whip.
