Foster Lake Trail
clean-up Saturday
Volunteers are needed to help clean up Foster Lake Trail, which is badly overgrown in spots, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 30.
The trail runs from Lewis Creek Park nearly to Foster Dam and is open year-round, but needs regular repair and upkeep to remain usable for the general public.
Meet at the Gedney Boat Ramp. Dutch Bros. will be donating coffee for this event. Sweet Home Trails will provide treats to go with the coffee.

Flower show entry
deadline June 5
Lebanon Garden Club invites local gardeners and artists to participate in its Standard Flower Show in conjunction with the 106th Strawberry Festival.
This year’s theme is “All Stars.” The event will also include an Art and Quilt Show. All amateur floral designers, gardeners and youths are encouraged to enter designs and horticulture at the Evangelical Church on 75 East Ash Street in Lebanon.
Flower Show entries will be accepted from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 4, and from 7 to 9 a.m. Friday, June 5. Garden Club members will be available to assist and answer questions as entries are accepted. Flower Show Schedules with rules and information are free and available now at the Lebanon Chamber Office, Lebanon Senior Center, Lebanon Library, Green Thumb Nursery on Santiam Highway and Timeless Gardens Nursery on Brewster Road.
This is a free event, open to the public from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 5, and from noon to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 6.

LBCC choir concert to be director’s last
The Linn-Benton Community College award-winning choirs will perform their spring concert “Singing From the Heart” Thursday, June 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the LBCC Russell Tripp Performance Center, Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.
This will be the final concert conducted by LBCC Director of Choral Activities, Dr. James Reddan, who has taken a position at Frostburg State University in Maryland.
This “farewell” performance includes the Concert Choir, Re-Choired Element Chamber Choir, and the vocal a cappella ensembles Blue Light Special and The Sirens. Penny Bazanele will accompany on piano in addition to many others on various instruments!
The concert will feature an eclectic array of works spanning the choral repertoire including: How Can I Keep from Singing (Walker), J’entends le Moulin (Patriquin), It Takes a Village (Szymko), Alleluia from Songs of Faith (Basler), Wade in the Water (Hogan), In the Gloaming (Oswald), and Earth Song (Ticheli) among several others.
Tickets are $10 general admission, $7 for students, seniors, and veterans, and $5 for under 18. Kids fishing derby
at Roaring River
This year’s Free Fishing Day kids fishing event will be held at Roaring River Fish Hatchery located near Scio.
The event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 6, The trout are big this year and each angler will have the opportunity to catch two fish.
There will also be opportunities for participants to make fish prints at the U.S. Forest Service tent and the Oregon State Police will display enforcement equipment and trophy antlers.
All participants must register the day of the event to participate. The event includes fishing for all kids 12 and under; fish cleaning station with ice for the ride home, free parking, fishing poles, bait (donated by D & G Tackle) and tackle provided. Use of personal fishing poles and gear will not be allowed.
The event is sponsored by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, Roaring River and South Santiam Hatcheries, Northwest Steelheaders Albany and Salem Chapter and the U.S. Forest Service.

3-on-3 hoops at
Lebanon B&G Club
The Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Santiam will host a Strawberry Jam three-on-three basketball tournament on June 6 after the Strawberry Parade in Lebanon.
Games will be held at the Boys and Girls Club in Lebanon, 305 S. 5th St.
Teams of four can enter in divisions ranging from third-graders through adults. Cost per team in the Youth Division (third through 12th grade) is $120 per team. Adult teams are $140.

Old-time revival
at local church
Full Gospel Church of Sweet Home will hold an old-time revival meeting with Sister Alice Sanders at 6 p.m. nightly June 7 through 14 at 1314 Long St.

Sustainable living event June 6-7
A Mother Earth News Fair will be held from June 6 and 7 at the Linn County Expo Center, 3700 Knox Butte Road in Albany.
The fair is a family-friendly sustainable living event that features 200 hands-on workshops and demonstrations from experts on real food, organic gardening, homesteading, renewable energy, green building and remodeling, DIY projects, small-scale livestock, green transportation, natural health, and related topics.
Notable speakers include Joel Salatin, cheesemaker Claudia Lucero, Mountain Rose Herbal’s Erin McIntosh, and horticulturist Jessi Bloom. Also on the grounds: hands-on children’s projects; heritage-breed livestock; an alternative-fuel vehicle display; vendor, livestock and craft demonstrations; and local and organic food offerings.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on June 6 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 7.
Pre-order weekend wristband passes for $20. Passes will cost $30 at the gate. Children 17 and under get in free.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels, also known as Your Table or Ours, offers lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.
First-time diners are invited to come in and have a free lunch to give it a try.
Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
The lunch menu on Friday, May 29, is Krab patty or meatloaf with gravy, whipped potatoes, succotash, oatmeal bread and candy cane cake.
