The city of Sweet Home’s annual Harvest Festival begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Sankey Park.
“It’ll be beautiful, 79, no rain – I hope,” said Julie Fisher, city planning assistant. “It’s just a community event to get people using our parks and having a great time together.”
Returning attractions include the popular Pacific Tree Climbing Institute and the Zany Zoo Petting Zoo, Fisher said. Chafin Farms will return and provide carriage rides.
The event will feature a new band, Breaking Midnight, she said, and Let’s Get Wild Face Painting will decorate faces. The Something Forever photo booth will provide photos, electronic and print, on the spot.
The Harvest Festival will host more than 40 vendors, Fisher said, and it’s tricky figuring out where to put them all – a good problem to have.
“We’re not doing the games this year,” Fisher said. “Last year, they weren’t really popular.”
She thinks children were more focused on other activities.
The festival will provide free popcorn, and CH2M Hill is providing free hot dogs and sodas beginning at about noon until they’re gone.
