Bacteria levels from wastewater treatment plant high

Test results from Wednesday revealed E. coli bacteria levels exceed the permitted level of 406 MPN. The waterway affected is immediately downstream of the Pleasant Valley boat ramp. Therefore, staff recommends avoiding swimming or wading in that immediate area. In addition, signs are posted warning the community of the water quality advisory.

Under direction from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) the wastewater treatment plant team will test samples every four hours through Thursday. Additionally, they continue to make corrective measures to mitigate the issue.
