Five Sweet Home students signed letters of intent April 14 to pursue technical education degrees at Linn-Benton Community College, during the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) Letter of Intent Signing Day.
The virtual signing day ceremony was designed to honor students who are entering a technical field and to emphasize the importance of their career choice.
“By signing our incoming students to Letters of Intent, we’re telling them that we’ve reserved a place for them, and we want them,” said Amy Burbee, LBCC Cooperative Work Experience Coordinator. “Technical education will prepare them for a strong career. Industry leaders are excited about this opportunity because it validates the student and provides an opportunity for industry representatives to meet these future workers.”
Local students who committed to LBCC on CTE Letter of Intent Signing Day included Sweet Home High School students Jacob Barraza, Practical Business Management; Brian Frick, Heavy Equipment & Diesel Technology; Emily Pace, Practical Business Management; Jonah Peake, Welding and Fabrication Technology. Also signing was East Linn Christian Academy student Nathan Rehart, who will pursue Welding and Fabrication Technology.
