LCSWA meeting canceled

The Linn County Small Woodlands Association’s annual meeting at Z Hall in Scio has been canceled, the firm’s directors confirmed in a Dec. 2 decision.

Board president Tim Otis cited ongoing pandemic issues, adding that he was “uncomfortable” with a winter indoor gathering, which typically includes a potluck dinner and 4-H activities.

Board members agreed, voting unanimously to have its secretary, Jonathan Christie, issue a mailing, which will include a ballot measure of board nominees Shirley Holmberg, Jim Cota and Jim Merzenich to fill upcoming three-year terms.

New board member Mike Barsotti will step into the LCSWA vice president’s post.

Barsotti is a current member and past president of the statewide Oregon Small Woodlands Association board.

He and his wife, Jo, were named the 2021 Linn County Tree Farmers of the Year.

Board members expressed hope for an outdoor picnic for members in the summer of 2022.
