Sweet Home Public Works has begun its seasonal leaf collection program for residents and businesses, which will continue through mid-December.
“This is a program we do every fall,” Public Works Director Greg Springman said.
Residents are asked to place their leaf piles in the public right of way prior to scheduling with Public Works office Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
City staff is still waiting to hear back from the sweeper company’s sales representative on an exact delivery date for the new sweeper the city is purchasing (see above story). Tentatively, it could take as much as 90 days before it arrives, but there could be one sweeper available sooner, Springman said.
“Depending on that delivery date, and/or any road conditions (emergencies, storms, etc.) heading into the fall season will most certainly dictate if and when the city rents another sweeper,” he said, adding that the cost would be approximately $3,500 per week.
