Graduation plans begin to take shape

Sweet Home High School Seniors will have their chance to walk across the stage and receive a diploma next month.

Supt. Tom Yahraes outlined tentative plans for graduation during the School Board’s regular meeting, held virtually, Monday night.

Under the plan, seniors will attend “mini-ceremonies” in small groups throughout the course of two days, tentatively June 4 and June 5. Details about spectators are not available yet. Just 25 people will be allowed in at a time, and they must follow physical distancing guidelines, maintaining at least 6 feet from each other.

After receiving their diplomas, they will have the opportunity to tour their school one last time.

Seniors will receive a video of the graduation.

Tentatively, on June 5, graduates will participate in a vehicle parade.

Yahraes said further details will be released later.
