A Sweet Home man was fatally shot early Saturday morning, May 11.
Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon said that at approximately 5:23 a.m., the Linn County Dispatch Center received a 911 call from Cheri Lyn Olsen, 47, of Sweet Home, who reported her boyfriend had been shot on Wiley Creek Drive near Sweet Home.
Paramedics from the Sweet Home Fire Department, officers from the Sweet Home Police Department, and deputies from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office all responded to Wiley Creek Drive and met with the caller as she was driving towards Sweet Home.
Paramedics transported Dean Paul Jurica, 50, of Sweet Home, to the Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, where he succumbed to his injury.
“We’re running down leads like crazy, processing evidence,” Yon said Monday. Investigators “have been working all weekend.”
He could not provide much detail about the shooting at this point, Yon said.
“It’s definitely not a suicide. Where it goes from there, we’ll see.”
