Firefighters work to evacuate a smoke-filled apartment at 1237 Nandina St., apartment 7, Friday evening, Sept. 25. According to a fire report, tenant Anita Lewis had been cooking before leaving the apartment. Upon returning, she found smoke coming from her residence. The fire originated in the kitchen, apparently the stove top, according to the investigation. Bystanders had extinguished most of the fire before firefighters arrived. They found a small fire still…
