This display by Larry Shipley of Lebanon is the People’s Choice Award winner for the 67th Annual Gem and Mineral Show held March 28 to March 29 at Sweet Home High School. The People’s Choice second-place award was Jerry Duncan and Rose Schatz of Scio, and third place went to Rick Wagner of La Grande and his father, Emery Wagner of Sweet Home. The People’s Choice awards were chosen by visitors who voted for their favorite displays. Additional awards went to children for their egg carton collections. For ages 5-7, winners were Kylie Melkvik of Sweet Home, first place; Gavin Gardiner of Sweet Home, second place; Naomie Bolden, Anabelle Morris and Amelia Sullens, all of Sweet Home, third place. For ages 8-10, winners were Andrew Bradford of Corvallis, first place; Gabriel Bradford of Corvallis, second place; Hunter Putney of Sweet Home, third place and for ages 11-13 Grace Hefner of Sweet Home placed first.
