Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District Chief Mike Beaver inspects the site of a downed power line Monday afternoon. Workers were cutting trees down along the highway as part of LND Construction’s ongoing development at 60th Avenue and Highway 20. LND owner Dan McGarry was working at the site on a computer when the tree fell and cut power to much of Sweet Home east of 18th Avenue. He was told a tree twisted at the stump and fell the wrong direction onto the power lines. A small fire smoldered on the ground where the trees crossed the power lines.
