A Sweet Home resident’s donation has left the Friends of the Library in a pleasant quandry: how to get rid of 95 boxes of books as soon as possible.
The donation, from Howard Bergerson, includes books on philosophy, literature, biography and language, as well as science fiction and some regular fiction.
“(Bergerson) was very interested in the English language, in writing and things like that,” said Madelene Battey, president of the Friends of the Library.
The problem for the group is that there are too many books to fit in its normal second-hand bookstore at 1242 Main St. Their landlord has allowed Friends of the Library to use another vacant store building just west of the Frontier Restaurant and Lounge for a few weeks.
Battey said the group plans a special sale of Bergerson’s collection “the first or second week of September.”
