The Sweet Home Police Department will conduct a crosswalk enforcement activity on the morning and early afternoon of June 30 at the crosswalk located in the 1600 block of Main Street.
The enforcement effort will occur between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The designated area was chosen because of concerns expressed by business owners in the area, police said. Signs will be posted in the area informing drivers of the crosswalk enforcement.
Officers will be looking for crosswalk violations as well as distracted driving violations.
The effort is funded by an Ore-gon Impact mini-grant program aimed at enforcing pedestrian right of way in crosswalks and to educate citizens about the causes of pedestrian crashes.
