A group of Sweet Home-area residents, led by Todd Branson and Bill Langdon, spent Thursday morning, March 5, finishing a job they and others have been working on for weeks: a cleanup of the Foster Lake shoreline between 60th Avenue and Shea Point. Above, shovel operator John Smith loads a Cascade Timber Consulting dump truck with limbs and other debris collected by the volunteers. At right, Branson trims trees in the back of Langdon’s dump truck, which was also used for the job. Branson said he and “many others” had spent six weeks on the task after getting the OK from the county, which has responsibility for the area after acquiring Edgewater RV Park. “I figured as long as I live here, it might as well be beautiful,” Branson said. Also helping on Thursday was Patsy Rice, who worked traffic control while the truck were being loaded.
