Despite the early-December deep freeze, many Sweet Home residents managed to get their holiday lights up before the Senior Center bus full of judges rolled by on the evening of Dec. 12, armed with a list of nominees for best lights show in Sweet Home.
The winner, for the second year in a row, was Troy Cockrell of 4410 Airport Road, whose combination of lights, figures and music was, well, the favorite.
A close second was the home at 994 29th Avenue, and the seniors also appreciated the decorations on houses in the 1000 and 1100 blocks of 43rd Avenue.
We also recommend the home at 26914 Old Holley Road, at the top of the big hill just outside the city limits. You won’t need the address to find it.
For his winning entry, Cockrell will receive a year’s subscription to The New Era. Also, the winning nominator, Athena Bowman, will receive a subscription as well.
Thanks for “playing” and we wish you a joyous time as you cruise town, enjoying the creativity displayed in these light shows.
