Elks Back-to-School Night

The Sweet Home Elk’s Lodge held their Back to School Night event on Monday, Sept. 30. The Sweet Home Elks received two $2,000 grants, a Promise Grant and a Beacon Grant to put on their back-to-school party. The Beacon Grant paid for a hot dog dinner, the party, anti-drug abuse education and school supplies. The Promise Grant financed supplies. Students worked their way around the room, playing a variety of carnival games and then deposited their prizes into boxes for each school. Supplies were purchased based on wish lists from Sweet Home, Halsey and Sweet Home Charter School classrooms. Participating were 76 children, 57 parents, 13 school staff members and about 35 Elks members.
