Sweet Home Public Works Director Mike Adams said that Albany and Eastern Railroad was unable to complete crossings at 53rd and 54th avenues last week because the weather was too cold.
The company has been rebuilding the track between Lebanon and Sweet Home. Nearly complete, Albany and Eastern was unable to complete paving at crossings on Ninth, 12th, Clark Mill, 47th, 53rd, 54th and Poplar streets because asphalt hasn’t been available. The railroad had hoped to finish 53rd and 54th, the closest crossings to a school, on Jan. 19, but low temperatures kept crews from paving the crossings.
Each crossing is graveled, Adams said. An Albany and Eastern representative said the railroad would add gravel if it’s needed at any of the crossings.
Adams asks that anyone who believes the crossings need gravel to contact him at (541) 367-6243 or [email protected].
