Sweet Home man hospitalized after shooting

The Sweet Home Police Department is investigating a

shooting that occurred Friday

evening, resulting in the hospitalization of a Sweet Home man.

Richard Allen Paulino, 57, was reported in stable condition in intensive care at Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis as of Saturday morning.

At about 5:31 p.m. on Friday, the Sweet Home Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at 1536 Ninth Avenue.

While en route, officers were advised that a firearm was involved, and one person had been shot.

Officers assessed the scene and entered the residence, said Sgt. Jeff Lynn. Inside the residence, officers located a male and female in the living room. The male had a gunshot wound to the head, and the female, whose name was not released, was attempting to apply pressure to the wound.

Officers located and secured the firearm that had been used to inflict the wound, Lynn said.

After the house was cleared and secured, Sweet Home medics responded, Lynn said.

The female witness told police that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted, Lynn said. SHPD is continuing an investigation into the shooting.
