The District 55 School Board approved a little less than half of $1.1 million in budget reductions recommended by district administrators during its regular meeting Monday night.
The board will hold a work session at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 9 to discuss the remaining items in the recommendation.
The district is attempting to reduce its 2010-11 budget by $1.1 million to deal with a projected shortfall in funding from the state.
