Derrek C. Sharp, E-2, graduated from U.S. Army basic training and advanced individual training at Ft. Knox, Ky., in October.
He will report for active duty in May for Iraq.
Sharp is a 2008 graduate of Sweet Home High School.
He is the son of Norman Sharp and Trudi and Jerry Gregersen of Sweet Home and the grandson of Jean Sharp of Brownsville, Vern Bergevin of Albany and Pat Bergevin of Sweet Home.
