Linn County 4-H wrapped up the year at the annual Awards and Recognition event Nov. 7 at a dessert at the Linn County Fairgrounds with nearly early 200 4-H youth and their families.

Linn-Benton Women for Agriculture present an Outstanding 4-H Youth Award each year. The $125 check went to Sam Blankenship, a member of the Calapooia Critters 4-H Club in Sweet Home. Sam has been an active 4-H member for the past six years and has also received the Citizenship Award in the sheep area for the past two years.

The 2007 Outstanding 4-H Leader is Marty Linville of Lebanon’s Clever Clovers 4-H Club. Not only does she lead her project areas, geology and photography, but she also finds the time and energy to help out in many other areas. Linville has also served as the Linn County Fair 4-H Photography Superintendent and has helped at the Oregon State Fair in the 4-H Exhibit Building.

Honoring the business community is the Friends of 4-H Award. The 2007 recipient is the Scio Feed & Country Store. This business has helped by contributing awards and helping to obtain other awards in the 4-H Livestock area. They also offer discounts and offer financing to youth to purchase products for their projects. The store also offers the use of a show ring to practice.

Cascade 4-H Club from Scio was named the featured club. Cascade is a community club with projects including rabbits and chickens, goats, swine, photography and fiber arts.
