Country music artist Billy Currington has pulled out of the Oregon Jamboree, citing a severe case of laryngitis.
Currington had been scheduled to appear on Saturday during the festival, which runs Aug. 3-5, but Jamboree officials said he has been advised by doctors to rest his voice for a longer period.
Jamboree Event Manager Peter LaPonte said that, though the timing of the announcement is difficult with the festival less than two weeks away, a replacement would be named as soon as possible.
“It’s the nature of the entertainment business,” he said. “It happens all the time. These cancellations have nothing to do with our festival.
“It’s a setback from the operational point of view, because it’s tremendous amount of additional work to cover this at this point in time,” LaPonte said.
“But we’ve done it before. We’ll have a great show.”
General admission tickets are still available for the event. Three-day tickets are $105 and single-day admission is $70 for adults. Children 7-12 are $25 for three days and $12 for one day. Children 6 and under are free with an adult.
