Chelsea Gregory says she’s wanted to be a member of the Sportsman’s Holiday Court “since I was a little girl.”
Gregory, 16, a junior at Sweet Home High School, is one of eight young women who are candidates to be chosen Sportsman’s Holiday queen for the festival, to be held July 13-15. The queen will be crowned on July 12.
She is the daughter of Mike and Sherri Gregory. She has one brother, Brandon Gregory, 13.
At school, she is part of the varsity cheerleading squad. She has volunteered for various events in the community, such as serving dinner on Christmas Eve at Sweet Home Emergency Ministries and helping at different sports clinics.
After high school, she plans to attend college and has considered studying child psychology or criminal law.
Gregory said she enjoys the small-town atmosphere in Sweet Home and its proximity to the outdoors.
“I appreciate the lake and the mountains being so close,” she said of Sweet Home. “I also appreciate seeing the same people at school every day.”
Gregory says she wants to be a positive symbol to represent Sweet Home.
“I believe I can be a positive influence for my peers and younger children,” she said. “I also believe I will be a positive symbol for the way people perceive Sweet Home.”
