Sweet Home High School junior Samantha Hale gets a haircut from Teri Martell at Rumors hair salon on Sept. 2. Martell spent the day cutting hair for free for children of single parents or grandparents as she has for 10 years. ?I do it to be the hands of Jesus because God?s been good to me,? Martell said. ?I was a single parent for 10 years. Back to school is like Christmas ? It?s hard.? Martell thanked local businesses and individuals who helped support her effort. Students in District 55 went back to school this week, most on Sept. 6, with some upper grades starting their year Sept. 7.
