Over the Rivers, Through the Woods

Friday, June 18, East Linn County will celebrate the addition of Over the Rivers, Through the Woods as western Oregon’s newest scenic byway. Festivities will be from 3-6 p.m. at the East Linn Museum, 746 Long Street in Sweet Home.

Jeff Kropf, State Representative, Pat Moran, State Scenic Byway Coordinator, Mandy Cole, Oregon Tourism Commission, Don Ware, Brownsville Chamber President and Tim McQueary, Sweet Home Mayor will launch the new byway at 4 p.m. Hot dogs and pop will be served for $1 with proceeds being donated to Sweet Home High School student activities. The museum will be open. The “Old Time Fiddlers” will play for the entire three hours.

The 66-mile scenic byway begins on Highway 228 at I-5, runs through Sweet Home on Highway 20 and ends at the junction of Highway 20 and Highway 126.

Supporters say the benefits of this Scenic Byway through local communities are numerous. It will be highlighted in national and state publications and may be featured in travel magazines.
