Woman escapes before car burns

A Lebanon woman escaped her vehicle after it crashed and caught fire early the morning of Sept. 16 near milepost 14 on Highway 228.

Paramedics from Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District transported Sandra Ritter, 29, of Lebanon to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital for chest pains.

Driving toward Crawfordsville, according to Oregon State Police, Ritter crossed the road with her 1980 Isuzu Impulse hitting a guard rail before stopping in a ditch.

Ritter, the only occupant in the vehicle, was able to exit the car safely before it caught fire. SHFAD extinguished the fire.

Unrelated to the accident, Ritter was cited for unlawful possession of a firearm.
