The Falls Creek Hydro Project, located between Trout Creek and Yukwah campgrounds on the Sweet Home Ranger District was the fourth project in the country to receive a Low-Impact Hydro Certificate last week.
The hydropower project is the only one west of the Mississippi River to receive the award, Ron Neet, who works on the project, said. A nonprofit agency based in Portland gives the certification based on eight stringent environmental criteria.
