The District 55 School Board awarded a contract Thursday night to build eight new classrooms at Hawthorne Elementary Schools.
The new classrooms are part of an $18 million bond passed by voters last year for a number of projects at all schools around the district, including a new high school gym and the reconstruction of most of the high school.
