Freak storm sucker punches S.H

Like the famous Columbus Day storm 40 years before it, Thursday’s freak storm threw a sucker punch at East Linn county, plunging towns and thousands of homes into the cold, winter night.

The sneaky twist of weather arrived with a vengeance Thursday afternoon and sent hundreds of trees thundering to the ground–several landing on homes. Nature’s wratch caused power outages to some 50,000 electrical customers in Western Oregon for days.
