Solvent contaminants found on Santiam Plaza property

Owners of the Santiam Plaza last week found chemicals used in many dry cleaning businesses during an environmental testing associated with refinancing.

The solvent, tetrachloroethene (PCE, perchloroethylene) was discovered near the west side complex of buildings. Last year, a new Safeway store was constructed on the east side of the grounds owned by Whittaker/Northwest Partners II.
