The 2001 fire season last 125 days, about 15 days longer than the five year average, according to ODF forester Paul Bell.
Bell told The New Era last week that the Linn Fire Protective District experienced 64% of normal rainfall from October 2000 through October 2001. That translates into 37.12 inches versus a 25 year average of 57.92 inches.
