Joanne Martin, 62, of Sweet Home passed away Thursday after a four-year battle with cancer.
Joanne was born in Portland on Sept. 20, 1956, to Norman and Mary (Chandler) Hovet, and lived her entire life in Oregon.
She graduated from Centennial High School in 1974, then went to San Jose Bible College for a year.
She later attended Oregon College of Education, finally going back to school to get her nursing degree from Linn-Benton Community College in 1992.
Joanne worked primarily as a home health nurse until her retirement in 2016. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and crocheting, being involved in her church community, and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Joanne is survived by her husband of 39 years, Dave; her four children, Allison, Andrea, Elizabeth, Adrienne; and her three grandchildren, Jack, Nathan and Charlie.
She is remembered fondly by her mother, Mary Jo, and siblings Catherine, Barbara, Jon, and twin sister Dianne.
She was preceded in death by a stillborn son, Collin Patrick, in 1984, and her father, Norman, in 2008.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Highway 20 Church of Christ, 3025 Highway 20, Sweet Home, with Larry Gaskin presiding.
