JoAnne Gifford

March 28, 1950 – Aug. 9, 2018

JoAnne Marie (Mosher) Gifford, 68, passed away Aug. 9, 2018 at Providence Hospital in Portland after a short stint of lung cancer.

She was born March 28, 1950 to James and Geraldine Mosher in Sweet Home.

JoAnne grew up in Sweet Home, where she attended Long Street Elementary School, Sweet Home Junior High and graduating from Sweet Home High School in 1968.

After high school, she went to work for Stan Soli Reality. She moved to the Portland area where she met Terrence Gifford. They were married on Aug. 25, 1973. She then began working for Fireman’s Fund and later AIG in Portland. She retired completely in 2009.

Working with her hands was what JoAnne loved best. She loved to crochet and do cross-stitch. She crocheted afghans for almost everyone she knew. She was preparing to crochet afghans for babies in the NICU at the time of her death.

She also enjoyed bowling, shopping, country music and visiting family.

JoAnne is survived by her husband, Terry of Portland; parents Jim and Jerry Mosher of Sweet Home; and siblings Allan Mosher (Carmen) of Silver Springs, Nev., Linda McNelly (Bill) of Philomath, and Patricia Dale of Sweet Home.

She is also survived by nieces and nephews Lori Oxford, Leah Guilford (Trevor), Erica Barrick, Dustin Mosher (McKenzie), Amanda Ying (Dalton), Tiffany LaGrange (Tyler), Melanie Dale and Brandon Dale; great-nieces and -nephews Chris, Breeanna, and Bryce Oxford, Shaylee Ratcliff (Grayson), Jaden Guilford, Eric, Tyler and Gianna Roney, Jace, Ryland, Hope, and Elijah Mosher, Jasmine, Jamison and Josie Ying, and Calvin and Donovan LaGrange. There are also two great-great-nieces, McKenzee Oxford and Amelia Ratcliff.

She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Garold Graves and Armina Graves Ledford, paternal grandparents William and Laura Mosher, sister Joyce Wells and a great-great-nephew Harrison Ratcliff.

A potluck gathering of family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. on Sept. 1, at The Twin Cedars Mobile Park Hall 2796 S. Main Road, Lebanon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the cancer society in JoAnne’s name.
