Harold “Jack” Eastin of Sweet Home died March 16, 2018.
He was born Feb. 23, 1937 in Riverside, Calif. to Margaret and Claude Martinez.
After his father’s death, his mother married Harold C. Eastin, who later adopted him.
Mr. Eastin joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served from February 1954 to March 1958. After his discharge, he worked various jobs in California and Texas.
He returned to California and was employed for 20 years with the San Diego Transit District and retired in 2003. He moved to Sweet Home in 2006.
Mr. Eastin was a member of Sweet Home Elks Lodge, having held the chairs of Trustee and later as Lecturing Knight. He was also a member of the Sweet Home Vets Club and American Legion in Lebanon.
He is survived by his wife, Valarie; sons Jay and daughter-in-law Missy Eastin, Cliff and daughter-in-law Deanna Eastin, Sean and daughter-in-law Gay Eastin, Dunigan Eastin and Willard Witham; daughters Angie and son-in-law John Salas; brother Claude Martinez; stepchildren Jodi Drexler, Kim Whaley, David Eastin, Tracy Hoffman, Shelly Luitoriano and Lori Westmark; 26 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joyce.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 4 at the Sweet Home Elks Lodge. A potluck will follow.
