Martha Jane Rivers, 83, of Sweet Home died May 17, 2018.
She was born Oct. 3, 1934 in Chickasha, Okla. to Clarence B. and Linnie Jewel (Cluck) Houx.
She married Albert William Rivers on Dec. 24, 1951. They had four children.
Mrs. Rivers was a Jehovah’s Witness since the late 1950s and attended the Sweet Home congregation.
She worked in retail and then later as a foster grandparent at Kidco Head Start and the Sweet Home Boys and Girls Club. She resided at Avamere Twin Oaks for the last two years.
Mrs. Rivers is survived by her children, Daniel Bartley Rivers, Linda Jean Arnold, both of Sweet Home, and William Jonathan Rivers of Charleston; 30 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert William Rivers, on May 20, 1993; and daughter Martha Ellen Snyder in April of 2004.
A memorial service will be held, at a date and time to be determined, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 4714 Hwy 20, Sweet Home. For details, contact Linda Arnold at (541) 409-3750.
