Richard Ikola, 74, of Sweet Home, died Jan. 13, 2018.
He was born July 4, 1943 in Minnesota. His family moved to Cottage Grove when he was 2, and he lived there many years.
Richard worked for the U.S. Forest Service and eventually wound up in Sweet Home. He started a business with his brother Bob, selling cars at Sweet Home Motors, where he made many friends.
Richard and his wife Diane enjoyed collecting various items, including Orange Crush memorabilia, local Sweet Home items, car stuff and antique tools.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Ikola; children Lori Stacy, Darald Trinka and David Trinka; grandchildren Miranda Reynolds, Carson Trinka, Vinnie Trinka, Lily Trinka and Joey Trinka; brother Robert and sister-in-law Iona Ikola; sisters Helen Hull and Elenor Saltsgaver; and many other family members, including nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Riverside Christian Church at the end of Green River Road. A potluck will be held. Feel free to bring a dish and share stories and memories.
