Marilyn Virginia Sloan, 81, of Sweet Home passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 1935.

She was born Dec. 14, 1935 in Longview, Wash. to Everett L. and Anna B. (Wood) Taylor.

She married Lawrence Edward Sloan on Dec. 20, 1952.

Marilyn was a pastor’s wife. She was an assistant in a funeral home and was also an assistant at the former Sweet Home Christian School.

She sang in high school and church choirs.

Marilyn had a servant’s heart and lived her life to love and care for her family. 

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Lawrence E. “Larry” Sloan; daughters Willow and her husband Steven Nelson, and Rebecca Pearce, all of Sweet Home, and Ginger and her husband Roy LaBlanc of Lincoln City; son Scott Sloan of Sweet Home; grandchildren Krisiti and her husband Tim, Joslynn and her husband Isaac, Matt and his wife Becca, Nathan, Zachary and his wife Anna, and Alex; great-grandchildren Connor, Caiden, Luke, Didrik, Joanna and Ella Grace; and sister Virginia Taylor Branch. 

She was preceded in death by her sons, Jim and Greg; parents Everett and Anna (Wood) Taylor; and her brother Everett. 

Viewing will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday Dec. 7, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Sweet Home Evangelical Church. Final burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery.
