Mark Timothy Devlin

Sept. 1, 1957 – Oct. 5, 2017

Mark Timothy Devlin, 60, of Sweet Home passed away Oct. 5, 2017.

He was born Sept. 1, 1957 in Sweet Home to parents Harland Wayne Devlin and Arlene Edris (Veek) Devlin, the fourth of five sons.

He grew up in Sweet Home, where he thoroughly enjoyed exploring and taking scenic photographs of many captivating sunsets in his countless adventures.

Mark attended Sweet Home High school, and ultimately received his GED. He went on to marry Ginger Davis on Dec. 30, 1981; they later became proud parents of two sons, Devan and Daylan.

Mark started his early life as a family man at Sweet Home Stove works, then proceeded to careers as a truck driver, welder, millwright, and mechanic (including automobile preservation and restoration) before retiring in 2008.

Mark picked an ideal day to go on his final adventure. It was a beautiful day at OHSU in Portland, with a gorgeous view of Mount Hood.

Mark was a fighter to the end, but when it came time, he made the decision to go. He waited for both of his sons to be present before passing at 6:04 p.m. on Oct. 4. Mark is survived by son Devan and daughter-in-law Nicole; son Daylan and fiancé Karen; and his brother, Dean Devlin. He is also survived by five grandchildren, whom he loved dearly: Alexiah, Danner, Daisy, Violet and James.

Mark was preceded in death by both parents, and brothers David, Chris and Steve.

Mark’s family would like to express their gratitude for the prayers and well wishes from his many friends, which are sure to have helped get Mark this far.

A Celebration of Life was held Oct. 15 at the Jim Riggs Community Center.
