Sandra Jean Smith, 70, of Sweet Home died Friday, Sept. 29, 2017.
She was born in Endicott, N.Y., to Paul William and Elmira Elizabeth (Lengle) Bates.
She and her family moved west in 1954 and settled in Sweet Home in 1960.
She attended schools in Holley and Sweet Home, and she raised her family in Sweet Home.
Mrs. Smith was a CNA with Visiting Angels.
She was an artist. She loved quilting, fishing, gardening and her family.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Jack Smith; children Jeff, Kelly, Corey and Johnny Valentine, Tony Smith, Dawn Friesen and Jeff Smith; siblings Rip Bates, Mary Ann Galloway and Ronald Gene Williams; 22 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and “Jakki,” her Jack Russell Terrier.
She was preceded in death by daughter Colette Ann Valentine and sister Ethel Orton.
Viewing will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will follow at noon.
