Olga Klara Markert, 100, of Sweet Home died Sept. 14, 2017.
She was born on March 15, 1917 in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Anton and Olga (Gall) Gali.
Through her life Mrs. Markert lived in Montana, Pennsylvania, California and Oregon, settling in the Sweet Home area in 1974. She was a homemaker, certified nursing assistant and waitress.
Mrs. Markert had a passion for making quilts and collecting dolls. She also enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by five children, John Markert, Bill Markert, Kathy McDowell, Tony Markert and Fred Markert; two brothers, Fred Gali and Jerry Swope; two sisters, Freida Dent and Shirley Rex; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fritz Markert; one child at birth; and 10 siblings.
Viewing will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at St. Helen’s Catholic Church, followed by a recitation of the Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Private interment will take place at Gilliland Ceme-tery.
