Viola Mae Hembree, 79, died April 11, 2017 in Portland, surrounded by her husband, children and several grandchildren.

She was born Oct. 7, 1937 to Lloyd and Hazel (Huff) Hubbard in Eugene. She had one older brother, Darrell. The family moved to Kuna, Idaho, where she was involved in 4-H and raising beef cows.

She graduated from Kuna Union High in 1956. In 1957 she married the love of her life, Donald Hembree.

Mrs. Hembree had many interests and hobbies over the years, including hunting at Silver Lake, fishing along the Snake River, and her weekly Bunco group.

She also was very involved with the Oregon Jamboree, where she volunteered her time summer after summer for 21 consecutive years.

Mrs. Hembree also loved to bowl; she did this for many years with family and friends. She loved her grandchildren very much.

She was always up for weekend garage sales with family and friends as well. She was also an avid Mariner fan.

Mrs. Hembree was very committed to volunteering much of her time at the Fair Share Gleaners Group. The Hembrees with friends Buddy and Melba rode motorcycles all over enjoying a game of pool along the way.

Mrs. Hembree is survived by her three children, Twilia and son-in-law Ken Cross, Teri and son-in-law Mal Acosta, and Ronald and daughter-in-law Cecilia Hembree; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by two great-granddaughters.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on May 21 at the Sweet Home Senior Center, with potluck to follow.
