Peggy Lou Thomas Sept. 3, 1936 – March 16, 2017

Peggy Thomas, 80, passed away March 16, 2017 at Partners In Care in Bend, with her husband Lewis Thomas of 60 years and daughter Barbara Self by her side.

The third of four children, Peggy was born Sept. 3, 1936 in Joplin, Mo., to Nathan and Mary Jenkins.

She met her “husband to be” at the Salem drive-in theater during intermission where they were introduced by friends, and were married two short months later, on Aug. 3, 1956.

They had seven children: Billy, Jimmy, Harold, Timmy, Suzie, Barbara and Jerry.

Peggy loved the outdoors and shared that love with her family – camping, hiking, swimming and exploring. She loved growing and canning her own food for her family.

She also had a knack for growing the most beautiful flowers.

She had a loving and giving way about her. Her home was always open to all. If you were in need she was right there giving all of herself to help.

In her later years, Peggy loved to putter around her yard in the summer, and enjoyed making quilts and doing arts and crafts with Lewis in the winter.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Lewis Thomas; sons Billy, Harold, and Tim; daughter Barbara; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brother Jim; sister Grace; sons Jimmy and Jerry; and daughter Suzie.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to Partners In Care, 2075 NE Wyatt Ct, Bend, OR 97701, 541-382-5882, http://www.partnersbend.org.
