Pearl Kimball

Pearl Sadie Birdsall Kimball, 95, of Newport and formerly of Sweet Home, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2016.

She was born in Claire City, S.D., to Leslie and Ella (Beling) Birdsall.

In 1937, she and her family moved to Sweet Home.

Mrs. Kimball graduated from Sweet Home High School, part of the Class of 1939.

On July 3, 1941, while working for the office of McDowell Creek Logging, she was crowned the first Queen of Albany’s Timber Carnival.

Pearl married Samuel “Howard” Kimball on October 4, 1941. They had three children.

She is survived by children William Kimball and his wife, Louanna, and Barbara Scanlon; brothers, William and Leslie Birdsall; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, in 1975; daughter Nancy Moreno in 2015; sisters, Vera Palmer and Florence Robeson; and brother Wilbur Birdsall.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
