Alice Palmer

Sept. 15, 1925 – April 14, 2016

Alice Allene Palmer, 90, a longtime Sweet Home resident, died April 14, 2016 of natural causes.

She was born, the second youngest of eight children, to Spain Golden and Cay (Halbert) Trask in Cherry Valley (Steelville area) Crawford County, Mo. on Sept. 15, 1925.

Her family moved to Sweet Home after the death of their mother in 1936.

Mrs. Palmer worked in a local cannery and met Glenn Edward Palmer around that same time. They fell in love and were married Jan. 17, 1948 in Sweet Home.

The couple never had any children of their own but loved and cared for many nieces and nephews as if they were their own.

She and her husband were members of the Sweet Home Veterans of Foreign Wars, where she spent some of her time volunteering for the club’s activities.

Mrs. Palmer is survived by her half brother, Spain Eugene Trask and his wife Betty of Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Edward Palmer; sisters Opal Gladine Harman, Alma Kay Trask, Oma Laverna Hicks, and Thelma Ludie Burke; and brothers Spurgeon Everett Trask, Marvin Bryne Trask, Arthur Albert Trask, and Winston Wilburn Trask.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Gilliland cemetery in Foster.
