Betty Jane O’Brien, 89, of Sweet Home died Feb. 16, 2016 in Lebanon from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born Aug. 22, 1926 in Estherville Township, N.D. to Leon and Bertha (Hansen) Webster.
She married Lowell O’Brien on Oct. 26, 1944 in Sydney, Mont. The couple moved to Oregon in 1948.
Mrs. O’Brien occasionally worked as a field boss during harvest times in the cannery in Stayton but, spent much of her time raising her children. She was a member of the Mennonite Church in Sweet Home.
She enjoyed painting, gardening and cooking family meals. Mrs. O’Brien was dedicated to her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy in life.
Mrs. O’Brien is survived by her sons, Steven of Port Orford, Gary of Forks, Wash., and Richard of Sweet Home; a daughter, Deborah of Juneau, Alaska; as well as numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lowell; son Michael; and daughter Dawn.
A Celebration of Life is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Sweet Home Mennonite Church. Mrs. O’Brien will be laid to rest next to her husband at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in Mrs. O’Brien’s name, to the Sweet Home Mennonite Church or your local hospice.
