Lola Rosella Perkins, 78, of Henderson, Nev. and Sweet Home, died in Beaverton Oct. 30, 2015.
She was born Dec. 27, 1936 in Crawfordsville to Howard Elmer and Christena Viola (McCole) Newton in her great-grandmother’s homestead, which had been in the family since 1854.
Sweet Home was her home, no matter where she lived. Her other cities of residence included Albany, Corvallis, Astoria, Salem, Cornelius and, recently, Henderson.
She was active in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various capacities including Cub Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, Primary president and as a full-time missionary.
She enjoyed family, friends, singing in the choir, family reunions, spending time outdoors, streams and creeks, mountains, the beach, and gardening. Her favorite hobby was genealogy and writing history.
She is survived by her husband, Rodney W. Perkins; her three sons, Joseph A. Miller, Johnnie Miller, and Charles Dooney, and their spouses; and her daughter, Angela (Dooney) Kidd; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Darrell L. Wetherbee; granddaughter Amanda (Miller) Fewless; and brother John Newton.
A funeral service will is planned for 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweet Home.
Viewing will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Lebanon.
