Eleanor E. Mathews, 66, of Sweet Home died July 5, 2015.
She was born May 28, 1949 in Bakersfield, Calif. to Ronnie and Beatrice (Jones) Dean.
She was a traveler and lived in Bakersfield, Paso Robles and San Jose, Calif.; Honolulu, Hawaii; Fort Worth, Texas and then in beautiful Sweet Home, where she made her final home.
Mrs. Mathews worked many jobs, but one that she really liked was at the Rio Theater many years ago. She always did a great job being a grandma.
She loved bingo and enjoyed visits to casinos. She could bake many wonderful desserts and loved making strawberry marshmallow pie and pecan pie with her granddaughter Megan. She always loved cooking.
Mrs. Mathews is survived by her son, Bert K. Kaniaupio Jr.; daughters Elizabeth U. Kaniaupio-Gowen and son-in-law Terry Gowen and Morning Star Kyriss; sister Ola Morris; brother Howard Griffith; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Mathews; son Jeremiah K. Kaniaupio; and sister Dorothy Dean.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9, at the VFW in Sweet Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Sweet Home Funeral Chapel to help with costs.
