Lloyd “Martin” Lovik, 76, of Sweet Home died Feb. 16, 2015.
He was born Aug. 6, 1938 in The Dalles to Lloyd and Gladys (Greenslit) Lovik .
He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1956, after which he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving for two years.
In August of 1958, he married the love of his life, Bessie Luella Hall. He worked at Cascade Plywood from 1958 until 1961, when he enlisted in the Army, serving both stateside and overseas. He retired in May of 1979.
Mr. Lovik attended LBCC then Western Oregon College, where he graduated with honors in 1984. Following graduation, he began work for the Oregon Department of Corrections and retired in 2000 as a corrections CPL.
Spending time with his boys, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was his love and passion, his pride and joy. To him they were the smartest and most beautiful babies in all the world. Family was his mainstay in life.
Mr. Lovik is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bessie; sons Lloyd “Marty,” William “Bill,” and John, all of Sweet Home; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Rena Evans.
A celebration of life, with military honors, was held Feb. 21 at the Sweet Home V.F.W.
