Charles Nicholson

Charles “Chuck” Nicholson, 66, of Lebanon died Dec. 20, 2014 at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland.

He was born March 18, 1948 in American Fork, Utah, the son of Earl and Ila (Jeffs) Nicholson. He moved to Sweet Home at the age of 8, attending local schools and graduating from high school in the Class of 1966. He worked in the woods and in sawmills for a few years, but spent most of his career in insurance sales and training. He worked as the regional vice president and as a trainer for AmeriPlan USA for the past 15 years.

Mr. Nicholson enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, was a musician, travelled extensively and had a strong faith and belief in his Lord and Savior. He loved going camping and boating with his family at Foster Lake.

He married Tana Engwall in Reno, Nev. on March 28, 1997.

He is survived by his wife, Tana of Lebanon; sons Brian and daughter-in-law Bride’ Nicholson, Mauri and daughter-in-law Shani Nicholson, and Jason and daughter-in-law Amber Nicholson, all of Sweet Home, Randy Nicholson and partner Jessica Ramsey, and Mitchel Craggett and partner Haley Holmes, all of Lebanon; a daughter, Rachele and son-in-law Forrest Burke of Springfield; brothers Skip McCandless of Beaver, Robert Perkins of Sweet Home and Rod Perkins of Lake Oswego; sisters Rose Abrahamson of Silverton, Cathy McCandless of McMinnville and Tracy Vavrosky of Wilsonville; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda; brother, Arnie.

Funeral services were held Dec. 30 at the Huston-Jost Funeral Home, with burial in the Lacomb Cemetery.
